Lone Wolf Designs - Tool Review Tuesday - Ranger

HEY Y'ALL! I HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. THIS WEEK I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY HAVE IN YOUR CRAFT AREA...

THE RANGER - NON-STICK CRAFT SHEET

I MUST SAY, THIS IS THE MOST VERSATILE AND USEFUL MAT THAT YOU COULD EVER HAVE ON YOUR WORK SURFACE! NOTHING... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING STICKS TO IT... WHETHER IT BE PAINT, STAIN, GLUE, TAPE, HOT GLUE, INK, ETC. IT IS STAIN RESISTANT AND HEAT RESISTANT!
WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR RIGHT?

I KEEP THIS MAT ON MY WORK SURFACE PERMANENTLY. I PUT A LITTLE BIT OF DOUBLE STICK TAPE ON THE BACK OF EACH CORNER TO KEEP IT IN PLACE WHILE I WORK. THIS MAT IS SO USEFUL FOR SUCH A WIDE VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS!! THE MOST COMMON OR MOST SEEN USE, I THINK, IS LAYING DOWN EMBELLISHMENTS OR PHOTO MATS TO INK THE EDGES.

HERE YOU CAN SEE I USE IT AS A PALLET QUITE OFTEN...
TO MIX PAINTS, STAINS, EMBOSSING PASTE, ETC.

I ALSO USE IT TO LAY EMBELLISHMENTS ON WHEN I COLOR THEM WITH PAINTS OR SPRAYS. EVERYTHING WIPES UP SO EASILY AND THEN I CAN MOVE RIGHT ALONG WITH THE REST OF MY PROJECT.

IN ADDITION TO USING IT AS A PALLET AND SPRAY SURFACE, I USE THE MAT WHEN I HEAT THINGS LIKE EMBOSSING POWDERS, DRYING INK, OR WORKING WITH SHRINK PLASTIC. THE PLASTIC MOVES FREELY ON THE MAT WHILE I HEAT IT AND DOESN'T STICK AT ALL.

ONE OF THE BEST FEATURES IS THAT EVEN GLUE DOESN'T STICK TO IT!! WHEN THE GLUE DRIES, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RUB IT AROUND IN A CIRCLE WITH YOUR HAND AND IT WILL BEAD UP AND COME OFF. IF IT IS GLUE LIKE MOD-PODGE OR WHITE GLUE, YOU CAN WIPE IT OFF WITH A WET RAG OR BABY WIPE.

WHEN I AM REALLY MESSY WITH A PROJECT, I USUALLY LIKE TO TRY AND WIPE UP AND CLEAN THE MAT WHILE EVERYTHING IS STILL WET. BUT, IF YOU DON'T GET TO IT BEFORE IT DRIES, DON'T WORRY... THE DRIED "MESSES" CLEAN UP JUST AS EASILY. YOU CAN USE BABY WIPES TO WIPE IT RIGHT UP, SPRAY A LITTLE WATER ON IT AND WIPE IT WITH PAPER TOWELS, OR USE A WET RAG TO CLEAN IT. IT'S EASY AS THAT!!

SO, IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN ONE OF THESE AMAZING NON-STICK, HEAT RESISTANT, CRAFT MATS... HEAD ON OVER TO LONE WOLF DESIGNS DISCOUNT CRAFT SUPPLIES AND ORDER ONE FROM KRIS!! YOU'LL BE SO GLAD YOU DID!

LWD Design Team Project - Dylusions Ink Spray

"PEACOCK FEATHERS CANVAS SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT"

HEY Y'ALL! I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL. I'VE BATTLED A FEW INTENSE HEADACHES IN THE LAST WEEK OR SO, BUT I'M BETTER NOW, PRAISE GOD!! I AM REALLY THANKFUL THAT I WAS ABLE TO REST AND FEEL BETTER TO GET TO THIS PROJECT. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I'VE WANTED TO TRY FOR A GOOD WHILE, BUT HAVE NEVER GOTTEN UP THE NERVE TO DO SO.

A LOT OF MY INSPIRATION CAME FROM "GABRIELLEP" ON YOUTUBE OR SCRAPBOOK.COM. I'M NOT SURE IF MINE WILL QUITE MEASURE UP TO HERS, BUT I TRIED NONETHELESS. LOL.. THE IMPORTANT THING IS, I HAD A LOT OF FUN WITH IT AND LEARNED A LOT WHILE CREATING IT!!

THE FOCUS OF THIS PROJECT WILL BE THE "DYLUSIONS INK SPRAYS"...

THESE SPRAYS ARE INTENSE WITH COLOR AND ARE GORGEOUS FOR ANY PROJECT.  I USED "VIBRANT TURQUOISE" AND "AFTER MIDNIGHT PURPLE" FOR THIS PROJECT.

STARTING THIS PROJECT, I ORIGINALLY WANTED TO DO A SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT. BUT, THINKING ABOUT ALL OF THE DIFFERENT MEDIA AND EMBELLISHING THAT I WANTED TO DO; I DECIDED IT WOULD BE BEST TO USE A FLAT, CHIPBOARD CANVAS. IT STILL HAS A MAT FOR A PHOTO TO BE ADDED, BUT IT'S JUST ON A DIFFERENT BASE.

AFTER CHOOSING COORDINATING PATTERNED PAPER AND CARD STOCK, I TORE STRIPS OF THE PAPER TO BE ADHERED WITH MOD-PODGE. NOT ONLY DID I USE PATTERNED PAPER AND CARD STOCK, I ALSO USED SOME TORN/CRINKLED TISSUE PAPER AS WELL... LEAVING IT SCRUNCHED AND WRINKLED, IN ORDER TO ADD MORE TEXTURE.

SO THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE JUST PLAIN OLD WHITE TISSUE PAPER ON MY PROJECT, I DECIDED TO TRY AND STAMP ON SOME TO SEE HOW IT LOOKS. MAKE SURE TO ADD A COAT OF MOD-PODGE TO THE BACK AND OVER THE TOP AFTER YOU LAY IT DOWN.

ONCE I GOT TO A CERTAIN POINT, I NEEDED TO HAVE A REFERENCE POINT AS TO WHERE MY PHOTO MAT WOULD BE. AFTER I CUT THE MAT TO SIZE, DISTRESSED THE EDGES, AND INKED THEM... I LAID IT DOWN INTO POSITION AND LIGHTLY TRACED AROUND IT WITH A PENCIL.

ONCE I HAD MY REFERENCE POINT, I CONTINUED TO EMBELLISH. BE PATIENT, I'M GETTING TO THE INKS! SAVED THE BEST PART FOR LAST YA KNOW. AFTER I GOT ALL OF THE PAPER STRIPS AND TISSUE LAID DOWN, I ADDED A FEW STAMPS RIGHT TO THE CANVAS. I USED SOME OF TIM HOLTZ/STAMPERS ANONYMOUS' STAMPS AND ARCHIVAL JET BLACK INK FOR THIS.

NOW, AFTER I WAS DONE STAMPING, I STARTED TO GATHER ALL KINDS OF EMBELLISHMENTS TO ADD... AN ARRAY OF TIM HOLTZ IDEAOLOGY METAL PIECES, PRIMA FLOWERS, WOODEN ICONS, RESIST CANVAS PIECES, RESIN FLOWERS, & OTHER MISC. FLOWERS. AT THE SAME TIME GRABBING MY FABRI-TAC GLUE AND JAR OF GESSO! ARE YOU READY TO GET
MESSY???

TAKING ALL OF THE METAL PIECES, I USED MY FINGER TO RUB SOME GESSO OVER THEM VERY LIGHTLY AND "MESSY". THE GOAL IS NOT TO TOTALLY COVER THEM, BUT TO DISTRESS THEM A LITTLE... LETTING IT SETTLE INTO THE CRACKS AND CREVICES.

NOW THE EMBELLISHING JOURNEY BEGINS... STARTING WITH THE LARGEST FLOWER AND WORKING MY WAY OUT. ONCE I GOT EVERYTHING "DRY FITTED" INTO THE DESIGN I WANTED. THEN, I WENT BACK AND GLUED EVERYTHING DOWN WITH FABRI-TAC.

SINCE I WILL BE SPRAYING THE WHOLE LAYOUT WITH THE DYLUSIONS INK SPRAYS, I PUT A LIGHT COAT OF GESSO OVER JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. BEING KINDA "MESSY"; LEAVING SOME PARTS UNCOVERED AND APPLYING IT HEAVIER IN OTHER SPOTS.
IT IS STARTING TO COME TOGETHER NICELY. ONCE EVERYTHING WAS DRIED WITH A HEAT TOOL... THE REAL FUN BEGINS!!! INK SPRAYING!!!

I LAID THE CANVAS DOWN FLAT AND HELD THE SPRAY NOZZLE VERY CLOSE TO THE CANVAS. LIKE AN INCH AWAY IN KEY SPOTS; INCLUDING ON THE FLOWERS. QUICKLY, I STARTED BY PUTTING 2 OR 3 SPRAYS IN EACH SPOT SO THAT THE INK WILL "POOL". AFTER I GOT A FEW SPOTS SPRAYED, I HELD THE CANVAS UP STRAIGHT SO THAT THE INK WOULD RUN DOWN THE FRONT.

SEEING HOW THE INK WOULD "RUN", I ADDED MORE SPRAYS WHERE NEEDED. THEN, I TOOK MY WATER SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRITZED WATER UNTIL I GOT THE DESIRED EFFECT. THE INK WILL SPREAD AND RUN AND THIN OUT... HAVE FUN!! GET MESSY AND CREATIVE!!

ONCE EVERYTHING WAS DRY, I TOOK A FINGERNAIL FILE AND FILED OFF THE GESSO AND COLOR SPRAYS FROM THE HIGH POINTS OF THE METAL EMBELLISHMENTS.

I ALSO WENT BACK AND ADDED SOME WHITE "TIPPING" TO THE EMBELLISHMENTS WITH SOME WHITE PUFFY PAINT.

FOR A LITTLE MORE CONTRAST, I DROPPED BIG DROPS OF "BLACK SHIMMER" HOMEMADE GLIMMER MISTS... AND A LIGHT OVERALL SPRAY OF "PURE GOLD" HOMEMADE GLIMMER MIST.

I KNOW THAT THIS IS A GOOD BIT "DIFFERENT" THAN MY USUAL "STYLE"... BUT, I LIKE LEARNING NEW TECHNIQUES AND DISCOVERING NEW PRODUCTS, SO THIS WAS REALLY FUN FOR ME. I LOVE THE DEPTH OF COLOR AND THE WAY IT ALL BLENDS!!

I HOPE THAT YOU ENJOY THIS PROJECT AS MUCH AS I HAVE ENJOYED WORKING ON IT. THANKS SO MUCH FOR VISITING WITH US; WE HOPE THAT WE HAVE INSPIRED YOU TO STRETCH YOUR CREATIVITY!!

ALTERED CIGAR BOXES - BEACH THEMED

HEY Y'ALL! I HOPE EVERYONE IS STAYING SAFE AND WARM. WE'VE HAD SOME WINTER STORMS HERE IN THE SOUTHEAST... SOMETHING OF WHICH WE ARE NOT USED TO AND NOT PREPARED FOR. SO, AFTER PLAYING OUT IN THE COLD, WHITE, WET STUFF WITH THE KIDS FOR AWHILE... I AM SO OVER THAT STUFF AND READY FOR OUR GOOD OLD SOUTHERN WINTER AGAIN!

ANYWAYS, I HAVE A PROJECT THAT I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU. IT'S A COUPLE OF ALTERED CIGAR BOXES THAT MY NIECES' MOM COMMISSIONED ME TO MAKE FOR HER DAUGHTERS FOR CHRISTMAS. YES, I SAID CHRISTMAS. I'M A LITTLE LATE ON POSTING THEM, BUT IT'S ALL GOOD.  :)

SHE (LET'S CALL HER MY CLIENT) WANTED TO PUT COPIES OF OLD PHOTOS FOR EACH DAUGHTER INSIDE OF THE BOX. SINCE MY "CLIENT" AND HER DAUGHTERS LOVE THE BEACH; SHE DECIDED THAT BOTH BOXES SHOULD BE A BEACH THEME, HAVE A FRAME ON THE FRONT SO SHE CAN INSERT A PHOTO, AND SHOULD BE AS CLOSE TO THE SAME AS POSSIBLE. SO, WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN MIND... I GOT TO WORK ON SOME GREAT CIGAR BOXES.

USING SOME PETALOO FLOWERS FOR INSPIRATION, I STARTED BY SELECTING THE PATTERNED PAPER THAT COORDINATED WITH THE COLORS OF CHOICE. AFTER MEASURING, CUTTING, & INKING THE EDGES OF THE PATTERNED PAPER AND SOLID CARDSTOCK MAT, I CONTINUED BY COVERING THE BOXES WITH THE PAPER AND THEN MOD-PODGE FOR A PROTECTIVE LAYER.

I USED A SMALL FRAME ON THE FRONT THAT I PURCHASED FROM MICHAEL'S IN THE DOLLAR BIN.  IN ORDER TO "DISTRESS" THE FRAMES A LITTLE, I USED SOME OF WENDY VECCHI'S "ORANGE BLOSSOM" ARCHIVAL INK ON THE TIP OF MY FINGER AND SMEARED IT LIGHTLY OVER THE HIGH EDGES. ONCE THE INK WAS DRY, I GLUED SOME FLAT BACK PEARLS AND SHELLS TO THE FRAME.

WHILE THE MOD-PODGE WAS DRYING, I GATHERED SOME SHELLS, PEBBLES, WHITE SAND, AND OTHER MATERIALS TO DECORATE THE BOX. AS ALWAYS, I USED FABRI-TAC TO ADHERE THE FRAME, ALL OF THE EMBELLISHMENTS, AND THE RIBBONS.

ON THE INSIDE, I DECIDED TO ADD A POCKET SO THAT MY CLIENT COULD WRITE A LETTER TO EACH OF HER DAUGHTERS AND TUCK IT INSIDE.

THE SENTIMENT THAT I CHOSE TO ADD SAYS, "EACH ONE OF US IS GOD'S SPECIAL WORK OF ART". I THOUGHT IT RELAYED THE MOM'S FEELINGS FOR HER BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS; AND SHE WAS VERY PLEASED!

I ADDED THE SAME MATTED, INKED PATTERNED PAPER ON THE SIDES WITH A STRIP OF "VINTAGE" LOOKING LACE, A SHELL, AND A FLAT BACK PEARL. THIS WAS ADDED ON ALL SIDES, EXCEPT THE BACK WHERE THE HINGES ARE. I ALSO COVERED THE SIDES WITH A COAT OF MOD-PODGE FOR PROTECTION.

AND... THAT'S ABOUT IT! MY "CLIENT" WAS VERY PLEASED, AS WELL AS HER DAUGHTERS WHO RECEIVED THEM. I HAD A LOT OF FUN WITH THESE BOXES AND I THINK THEY TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY!! ALTERING CIGAR BOXES ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE CRAFTS. IT IS VERY FUN AND REWARDING TO SEE HOW THEY TURN OUT.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR VISITING WITH ME TODAY! I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THIS PROJECT AS MUCH AS I ENJOYED WORKING ON IT. BEFORE YOU GO, I'D LIKE TO TELL YOU ABOUT A NEW ADVENTURE THAT WE WILL BE EMBARKING ON...
